I love this band and get excited every time I see something new that Jake Bannon designs.

This is my 1st installment of the "Stitched Girl" series. Just trying to figure out what I wanted to get on paper.  Experimenting with backgrounds, text and color combos. I was kinda worried how they would be received...especially by my female friends. So far so good. I've had people offer to pose for the series after I told them what the blood and stitches mean. This piece was inspired by a few people I know.  It originally started off as a sketch for the Tsunami Bomb tour poster (the character had clothes on then) but the client opted for skulls over girls.

When people open up to you...you hear some very private stories. I'm just putting my spin on those stories.

What a crazy show and so much fun too. I like Jimmy Eat World no matter how much shit my friends give me.  They write great songs.

Really happy with the way this turned out. Just experimenting with color combos...especially pink. Pink is a color I find difficult to use successfully.

Originally this was a sketch for Taking Back Sunday's "Where You Want To Be" album.  It was sitting in my sketchbook until the band contacted me about doing cover art. They chose a photo of a naked baby but thought the sketches could work as posters. I was too busy, they were too busy...so that never happened. Then VWT thing came along and I was back working with them. 

It's been brought to my attention by a few people now, that they purchased fraudulent copies of the TBS poster from a certain dealer on ebay. The print quality SUCKS and the person went as far as forging my name. You have no idea how pissed I am about this. The difference between the official poster and the bootleg are very obvious.  This was NEVER released as an 18x24 tour poster with text.

I'm such a huge fan of the NEPTUNES and N.E.R.D. that being able to do a poster for them was a highlight for me.  As producers they can make anyone sound good.

Here I went nuts with the text and tried to make it part of the illustration.  This has led me to go apeshit and spend hours try to do something new (new for me at least) with how I use text.

I was having issues with showing more of the breasts or not...but wanted to try it anyway. So I kept in mind to design it to be cropped. I didn't want to go for the money shot on this because the groups/ acts aren't about that. N.E.R.D. have a great Curtis Mayfield/ Motown vibe going on in their music. Which I dig. I was trying to go for that. Sexy but not stupid. Not sure if it works.

Tour poster for BLEEDING THROUGH.  Man is this band heavy...  Inspiration came from a BT lyric "Rather cut at the wrist..."  There's more to the lyric but I don't have the cd in front of me.  These were available at the shows on a thin paper or directly from my site on a heavier paper with color bars.

I felt the pressure to do something rad.  Oy Vey!  I had been watching the Excorcist 3 (which is a great Noir flick all on its own) and the "I AM LEGION.." quote came up.  It stuck with me and eventually I looked it up in the bible.  That inspired this poster as did Orson Welles.  Also this is one of my first attempts at playing with the text.

Tour poster for BRAND NEW.  The band contacted me, looking for some art for their Fall tour.  This ended up being a 20 x 20 foot backdrop, a tour shirt and a tour poster.  Check the "NERDS" section for pics I took and pics people have sent in to see how cool this looked at their shows.  Since then the backdrop died somewhere in Europe.  The poster and shirt sold out and are no longer available from the band or myself.

But...this image is available as an art print sans text.

This is my Valentine's poster.  Heck...this was usually how Valentine's went down for me.  This is also inspired from a song off of their album, "HOPELESS ROMANTIC."  Can you guess which one?

I LOVE THIS BAND!!!  Plain and simple.  Truly a bunch of nice guys that create great music.  Everytime I seem them, they are very cool to me.  I f you haven't seen them play you're missing out.  HOT WATER MUSIC killed it that night as well.  At the end of their set, the Souls came out and they all did HWM's "Trusty Chords".  How rad is that...

I love this band and can't wait for their next album to come out.  Every day I was at the WARPED TOUR, I  made sure to catch their set.

This was a tough one to do.  I had to follow up how well the 1st Coheed poster was received.  Heck it was so well received that I saw it being bootlegged and sold in various forms (from buttons, to pillow cases to crappy posters with my signature being forged) all over ebay.

I turned tweaker on this and took a lot of the sketches I had for this and used them as bground elements. EVERYTHING is a reference to the band's albums and storyline. Even the #2.  I had yet to see the comic book as well so I had no idea what the characters were going to look like so i did my spin on them.  The girl is kinda based off the girl from the "DEVIL IN JERSEY CITY" video.  Check the top left corner of the poster.

For those of you that have the Coheed live cd and dvd...check out the Skate and Surf Festival songs.  You can see this image was also used as a tour laminate.  It's amazing where this image keeps popping up.

It was rad to see Mondo Generator play this show.  At the time it was Oliveri's side project now full-time gig since splitting from QOTSA.  Oliveri signed a few of these for me and started laughing.  He didn't see the sucker at first but when he did, it finally made sense.  LIKE HELL are/were a great band from Minneapolis that played 1st Ave and the 7th Street all of the time. See them if you get the chance. At the time the simger looked like that Andy Kaufman character from Taxi!

This band is amazing.  If you're curious as to what they sound like - pick up APOCALYPSE DUDES.  One of the best albums ever.  Imagine Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons saying that and read this again.

This was another piece that got ripped off quite a bit.  What a bummer too.  I hate sending my lawyers after people.  How hard is it to get permission?

This one sold out quickly.  I could never buy another BTS album after "Perfect From Now On."  It was just that - perfect.  I liked it so much that I figured it could never be topped.  The dialogue in the word balloon is from one of the songs off of that album.
If you like BTS check out the TREE PEOPLE.  Awesome band Doug Martsch fronted during that whole whacky Grunge phase.

Had to work on this all the while I was going through a  really tough break up.  Why this band...why GOD?  The day of the show I was packing up all of my shit in boxes ready to move to a new apartment and be depressed for a few months.  I had Thai food that night...at least that was good.

Funny thing was...while I was looking for new apartments I had been recommended by a friend to talk  to a guy that had a room in Silverlake.  So I go there...it's on EWING st., and one of the opening bands - PIEBALD, were sitting there hanging out and looking at some recent pics from a photo shoot they just did.  Weird.

I never got that apartment.  I wasn't cool enough.
