Here's the second print collaboration - NOSFERATU. This was created specifically for Kirk's side project - "The Wedding Band". Which consists of METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo, Ugly Kid Joe singer Whitfield Crane, ex Queens of the Stone Age/Danzig drummer Joey Castillo and guitarist Doc Coyle of Bad Wolves (ex God Forbid).
They played a private show at Cosmo Music in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, on July 26, 2019. The only way you could get a copy was if you were at the show (or for a million dollars on eBay).
It wasn't difficult to get this idea approved. Kirk is a big fan of Nosferatu and so am I. I've done a few pieces already with that character. So it was fun to take it further on this print.
The idea I presented to him was that Nosferatu was looming over the Royal Ontario Museum - as if finally awakened after hundreds of years of sleep. And since the ROM has a well-known exhibit on bats I thought it would be cool to have vampire bat's escaping - ready to wreak havoc and do thy master's bidding.
The best part for me was the coloring (oh and drawing his fingernails). I don't use photoshop often - so this was an interesting journey to learn more about the program.

A few months back I was commissioned by Kirk Hammett and his management to design the poster for his current exhibit with the ROM - Royal Ontario Museum! The project went from one piece to two pieces after a few excited discussions. (My 15-year-old self has been freaking out these past couple of months!!)
It was fun to imagine Kirk in the anatomical style. After some back and forth with management we found a great photo that came across as dark (but not cheesy). After designing the Emma Ruth Rundle poster I wanted to bring more illustration to the foreground on pieces like this. I was able to do that with the rats and bats. Since there were vampire bats in the NOSFERATU poster - I wanted to bring them into this piece. And since rats are iconic in depicting Nosferatu I thought it would be cool to include them as well. I tried to imagine the subject was awakening from a long sleep in their crypt.
I also designed the “IT’S ALIVE” logo!
Creating the collage was a lot of fun too. There might be a few easter eggs hidden in the details!
So stoked that this was made available at the ROM!!! I (sorta) made it into a MUSEUM!!!!
These are printed using a special metallic ink combo, this print actually changes as you walk around it for an optical illusion that’s not to be missed!

So stoked to FINALLY show this off!!! I was commissioned by Blink-182 to be a part of the current tour. I had been trying for a while now to do a poster for this band so I’m doing the happy dance over here.
I’m also happy because I’m starting to feel the need to move forward with a style that I have been exploring for the past couple of years. So it’s nice to not be drawing a skull for once and to show people I can actually draw things - like people with no skin!!!
I enjoyed doing this. I hope you enjoy looking at it. Hopefully I’ll get hired to do more. nudgenudgewinkwink
If you look closely at the collage you’ll see a million references to the band. And myself of course.

I really enjoyed doing this poster. Alexisonfire was one of my favorite bands. Every year I was on the Warped Tour I'd drop whatever I was doing to check them out. I always wanted to do something for them...and finally this is my chance. Dallas Green was what made that band for me. Made them stand out and have a longer shelf life compared to most bands running the whole "screamo" genre into the ground.
I also got to finally use this image of Carol Lombard from the movie "Supernatural". I felt that it tied in visually with the music of City and Colour. It's dark and romantic and sometimes doomed. I like bummer music. Sue me.

Here’s the official artwork I did for the2014 WARPED TOUR this was a collaboration between photographer Lisa Johnson and myself. I was really stoked when Kevin Lyman, Kerrie and Julie called and asked if I’d be interested in the project. Working with them again was a blast and they let me go nuts and try out the collage style I’ve been noodling with. After some dusting off the cobwebs of my overstuffed brain I realize it’s the seventh Warped Tour project I’ve done with them since they tapped me to do posters in 2004! Very humbling and flattering that they’d want to work with me so many times. Thank you!

This was inspired by their song “Minerva” and the album art for their album “Diamond Eyes”. Minerva was the virgin goddess of poetry, medicine, wisdom, commerce, weaving, crafts, magic. She is often depicted with her sacred creature, an owl, which symbolizes her ties to wisdom.
The owl is chewing on a rat that is biting down on a banner that reads "Cuando el cofre se sacude y la aguja se parte vienen con migo rápidamente." The snake is there because I wanted to draw a snake - transforming from a tattoo into the real thing. I probably got the translation wrong. Ugh, I suck!
I hope I get to do more for the band in 2021!

So excited to finally post this image. The poster had been in the works for months - due to Morrissey’s cancellation and rescheduling of his tour.
Everyone seems to always do a portrait of Morrissey when designing a poster for him. I wanted to do something different and focus on his fans. Moz’s fans emulated him and the album art his former band, the Smiths, used. Whether in their melancholic disenchanted view of being young or by the way they pomped their hair and cuffed their jeans. The dissected image of Frida manages to convey both of those ideas. She was a defiant and radical surreal folk artist who ended up influencing so many people way past her death in 1954. If Frida were born later, she would have a bootleg copy of the Smiths first album playing in the background as she went on her path to self-discovery with her self portraits and torrid marriage to Diego Rivera.
The bones listed in the poster call out the injuries she sustained when she was 18. Kahlo was riding in a bus that collided with a trolley car. She suffered serious injuries as a result of the accident, including a broken spinal column, a broken collarbone, broken ribs, a broken pelvis, eleven fractures in her right leg, a crushed and dislocated right foot, and a dislocated shoulder. Also, an iron handrail pierced her abdomen and her uterus, compromising her reproductive capacity. Thank you wikipedia!
I hope you guys know some Spanish - scattered throughout the poster are quotes Frida is most well-known for. One of my favorites would be "I hope the exit is joyful — and I hope never to return — Frida". Thanks to my homegal @crankbunny for the proper translations to Spanish.

I’m continuing with the Dissected Monster series. This time around it’s my favorite monster ever - The Creature! Of all the monsters from that period the Gill Man still holds up. The design was ahead of its time. When I was a kid and they aired the Creature in 3D I remember running around frantically trying to earn $1.50 to buy the 3D glasses from Open Pantry down the block. I begged my mom to help me adjust our old tv to the correct frequency so the 3D ‘technology’ actually worked. It was a glorious day that I’ll always remember.
I had to take some liberties with the anatomy. I combined fish anatomy with human anatomy. It was a challenge but also very fun to research. (Because I am a nerd…)

I’m so excited to post my collaboration with Becky Cloonan. Try to guess who drew what… Becky and I have been buds for years and we both love High On Fire and Universal Monsters. The lady on the poster is Countess Marya Zaleska from the movie Dracula’s Daughter.
So when the band hit me up to do the poster for their Columbus, OH show…I decided to see if Becky was game to geek out on a gig poster with me. My respect for Becky is limitless so I had to really push myself to match her skill and full-on metal coolness. (I mean c’mon…she has her own wikipedia page!) Sleep was lost. Pizza was burnt. Daylight was shunned. Brains were melted. But it was worth it. At one point I was drinking out of the cup I use to clean my brushes. That’s how intense it was!
I sent Becky some ideas of what I wanted to do. In a few days she sent back finished art….(while on vacation in Scotland!) Which blew my mind because it was different that what I envisioned. It was better. From there I was inspired to go in a different direction and draw my hands off. We were both very surprised and happy with the results. Damn skippy.
In the past I’ve collaborated with Dave Johnson, Crankbunny and Buff Monster. So I’m stoked to add Becky to that list of artists I’ve been fortunate enough to work with.

I really enjoyed working on this project because I just needed to try something different with my approach to rock posters. It was a challenge that sometimes had me wishing a jet engine would fall on my studio. But it came together in the end. I’m happy with the final piece. I know a few of my friends didn’t understand what I was trying to tell them until they saw the print. I actually learned a few things about anatomy that I forgot 20 years ago. Plus the research was the most fun.

So much fun to do. The idea came from Joe of Smoke or Fire. We were in a cab with Neil from Anchorless Records on our way to Fat Mike’s restaurant Thistle Hill. (Name dropping galore….You picking up what I’m layin’ down?) I told them about the job and was perplexed as to what to draw. I didn’t want to make it a “Milo” poster. So Joe came up with the idea.

I was asked to design the artwork and logo for the 1st Country Throwdown tour. Country music is often overlooked when it comes to tour posters and artwork, so I'm really honored to have been part of the first tour. It's crazy to see the artwork all over the place now. Most recent was an issue of People magazine! I'm very happy that the tour (and my artwork) have been so well-received.

I based this off their "grapevine fires" song on their latest album. I didn't want to throw any hot rod flames on it.
I was driving through San Diego, (as a passenger of course) when the fires were happening and there was a lot of smoke a soot flying everyhwere. It looked like the end of the world. So I tried to get that across with the background.

I'm kinda shocked.
When I was a kid, me and my friends were huge GnR nerds. This was before cds when we had to decide if we buy a pack of blank tapes or buy the album. Needless to say I bought a pack of blanks and dubbed it from my friend Jason.
Plus I never thought I'd get to do some work for Guitar Hero.

This a poster I designed for Ashley and Joe over at Sideone Dummy Joe Sib put together a benefit show and got some really great bands and performers to volunteer their time for Wheels For Humanity. WFH is a charity that refurbishes old wheelchairs and gives them to people who need them the most. I'm sure they do more than that so go and check out their website. When I got the call from Joe to donate my time to design a poster I couldn't say "NO". How can you? Joe is one of the coolest guys I've met working in the music industry. If you haven't caught Joe's radio show Complete Control Radio you should check it out. He even did a 2-part interview pt 1 and interview pt 2 with me that you can download and listen to. Garsh... I really wish that I could go to the show. That's the ONLY PLACE you can get a copy of the poster.

Poster I designed for Zebrahead and Mind Driver. This was all done with a shitty brush. Including the lettering. Everything but the half tone was done by hand and then put together in illustrator. I like working loose once in a while. First poster for '07.

Trying something different. My take on traditional tattoo design of the Question Mark Girl.
Every month I volunteer my services for a good cause. To be social. To have a beer or three. To listen to some good music. And most importantly to benefit local and national charities. This month is a benefit for Music Cares. So if you're in LA, on the last Thursday of every month I suggest checking out Punk Rock Socia

Poster for Tobe and the Street Dogs. Great great great band. Trying to experiment with hand lettering. A buddy of mine that owns Old Glory Barbershop and Tattoo (in Venice, CA) gave me some tattoo lettering guides to work from. P.S. The Street Dogs are a great band.

Some people claim to respect the rock but never bothered to check out the Hellacopters. An amazing band. Same with Nebula which had spawned from Fu Manchu.
I tried something different for this. Yeah I know it's a skull. Hanging out with my buddy Josh (who owns Old Glory Barbershop and Tattoo) has had an underlying influence on me. We talk about tattoo art all the time and about dunks. makes sense?

Fearless Vampire Killers.
Just got the ok to put this up. Trying my hand with mirroring some of my artwork. I drew one side of the bats and holy water then flipped it. I tried to to draw both sides but the likelihood of me being able to match both sides up didn't seem likely. So instead of working hard I worked smart...to misquote my friend Dan St. George. Anyways...it's based off of FOB's latest video for a song title I'm too lazy to type. The video was part Buffy part Thriller. I liked the idea of them being vampire hunters. The video itself was no Thriller. But I liked the general concept.
The text inside the skull's mouth reads as so "WE'VE ALL BECOME GOD'S MADMEN" It's a quote form Stoker's Dracula. Pretty sneaky between the cheeky huh? My first attempt at drawing bats. I had shitty reference but I did my best.
Included is a detail of a few of the bats and the skull because most of the detail gets lost when it's shrunk down for my site.

Atticus asked me to do something for their SXSW showcase and wanted 2 posters for the same event. I was gonna cheese it out and do one piece and just change the text....which I kinda did. I ended up drawing both pieces instead of 'photoshopping' the blood and scars in. I did the job for free. It's to benefit cancer research for women. My sister is in remission from Lymphoma.

BIG THANKS to EMEK, JERMAINE and JUSTIN for bringing me in to this project!!!
This is my 3rd installment of the "Stitched Girl" series. I was kinda worried how they would be received...especially by my female friends. So far so good. I've had people offer to pose for the series after I told them what the blood and stitches mean. This piece was based on another friend and all that had been going on in her life recently.
When people open up to you...you hear some very private stories. I'm just putting my spin on those stories.
