I sketch primarily with a red col-erase pencil on 8.5x11 printer paper. I used to work solely in my sketchbook but I find this way easier. I also use this process for drawing up tattoo designs for my clients.
Working with a red or blue pencil is much easier for me. If I need to, I can draw on top of it with a regular lead pencil or go straight to inking. Less erasing. But in the sketch stage, I try to get as detailed a drawing as I can (deadlines permitting) to make it easier for clients to make the leap and envision how the final art will turn out.
